About the 5 ring circus

The 5 ring circus was born just before the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, as a way of covering the Games from a fan’s point of view.

The journalistic integrity was questionable, attractive athletes were exploited, and far too many jokes were made at the expense of doubles luge, but the stories were original and found an audience beyond immediate friends and family of the contributors.

And now we’re back, better than ever in the lead-up to the 2014 Games in Sochi. Our mandate is cover some off-the-grid stories of Canadian amateur athletes leading up to the Winter Games, helping give some exposure to something other than hockey as we approach the Sochi Games.

And yes, we will still make the odd joke about doubles luge.

Apologies in advance.
